Nature calls us into ourselves—into natural rhythms, into listening, into seeing what is alive. With gentle encouragement to be present, to let the busyness of our minds settle, and to allow the power of nature to bring us back to ourselves in stillness, movement and sharing with each other, Amma Thanasanti will let the power of nature, awareness, guide the day.
We’ll meet at the bench at the Big Trees trail head leaving to walk to the site together at 4:30 PM.
We’ll be gathering in a quiet grove in Joaquin Miller Regional Park, in Oakland. This is a different venue from where we met in May. It’s a gentle walk on level ground for about one quarter a mile to the site.
We’ll settle beneath the redwood canopy. Starting with a circle, alternating sitting/lying down meditation with walking/movement meditation and ending with discussion. Unlike the photo, we’ll be in a cleared, moderately flat area. (With foot traffic nearby.)
We will be invited to turn our phones off for the time together.
What to bring:
- A mat/ cushions/ bench to sit on
- A blanket/tarp
- Long pants and socks
- Bug repellent
- Layers for the cool air
- A water bottle
Drinking water will be available nearby. However the closest restrooms are in Roberts Regional Park, 30 minutes walk away.
