With Scott Wells and Amma Thanasanti.
What we’ll be exploring
We’ll weave together contact improvisation and meditation, with attention to how we move between contact, movement, and inward awareness.
We’ll begin with contact improvisation to enliven the body — feeling the support of the ground and exploring simple weight-sharing to sense how the body gives and receives support in relationship. This opening helps wake up sensation, trust, and physical presence.
From there, we’ll shift into meditation, sensing the body without contact and noticing how it feels after moving with others. We’ll explore the transitions between inward attention and engaging in contact, and how awareness changes while moving, pausing, and checking in with what’s present right now.
Throughout the afternoon, there will be ongoing choice: to move or rest, to be in contact or stay solo, to continue or pause. Consent will be explicit and revisited, and there’s no expectation to perform or push past your edges.
All levels are welcome. Curiosity, slowness, and kindness matter more than experience.
