Dana: The Pali Word for Generosity

Awakening Truth has adopted the practice of “Dana” (giving) as both a spiritual practice and a practical way to meet the financial needs of the learning center. Dana is a Pali word for generosity. Throughout Buddhist history, spiritual teachings have been offered to people free of charge. This practice links the community of teachers, students, and centers through the spirit of generosity.

Our registration policy for events is sliding scale. No one refused. Your donation will help us to provide scholarships to events for those who need it.

Peer Lead Meditation Group: Dec 22, 2017

Friday morning meditation will be peer led. This means we will take it in turns to find a short reading that speaks to your experience and invites discussion. When you lead, make 10 copies and bring the centerpiece shrine.

Format: We begin with 30 minutes silence (there can be a little music to accompany the first few minutes of meditation but come early and bring your own equipment as we don't have a sound system.) After 30 minutes of silence, presenter reads and shares for 2-3 minutes on what moved them to practice with what was read. They then invite discussion. We close at 8:25 AM with a circle of light and love, bringing to mind those who are experiencing good fortune and we share their joy or misfortune and need support. Optional potluck breakfast can go until 9 AM. Anyone is welcome to come late and leave early. Door will be left unlocked.

Donations welcome for use of the space.
